スピノザ研究、マルクス研究、「良心の囚人」、アウトノミア（自立）運動の指導者としで知られ、世界的な反響を呼んだ『帝国』、『マルチチュード』の共著者としても知られる、政治哲学者のアントニオ・ネグリ氏が、国際文化会館牛場記念フェローシップの招き、京都大学、東京藝術大学、東京大学のイベントに参加する予定であった。しかし、ネグリとパートナーであるパリ第一大学准教授ジュディット・ルヴェル氏は入国予定の３日前、外務省に突然査証申請を行うよう要求されてきた。ネグリは2003年10月以降は、現在まで22カ国を歴訪し、そのどこからも日本政府からのような要求を受けたことはない。結果として、来日中止になった。だからこそ、イベントは予定通り開催された。東大のイベントに700人も参加し、芸大では約400人で盛り上がった。両イベントでネグリは電話で質問に答えた。話の内容は「ネオリベ」（新自由主義）への対抗、「プレカリティー」（不安定労働）運動、などであった。「チャンスがあれば、ぜひ日本にいきたい」とネグリは電話で話した。

Antonio Negri, philosopher, autonomia/opereia activist, persona non grata in Italy, and internationally celebrated co-author of such alter-globalization classics as "Empire" or "Multitude" was invited to Japan by numerous prestigious universities and quasi-governmental organizations,along with his partner, Prof. Judith Revel.

However, shortly before their departure from France, they were suddenly 'disinvited' by Japanese immigration authorities. Japan refuses entry to foreigners who have served more than 1 year in jail. Negri has served a sentence for 1970's "association and insurrection against the state", after controversial trials earning him international fame as "prisoner of conscience". This was no obstacle for the 22 countries he has visited since his release from jail 2003, including China and Korea, he noted in a letter to supporters.

Nonetheless, events were held as planned, with Negri answering pre-scripted questions on the phone. 700 people watched a formal lecture and panel discussion at U Tokyo (Todai) and several hundreds gathered for the 'multitudinous' and colorful events at U of the Arts (Geidai). "Really a shame Negri could not come. I would have loved to clash with him," said feminist Ueno Chizuko.

１１月２７日、移住労働者労働組合（MTU)の幹部三名が自宅や職場近くで逮捕された。彼らの即時釈放と移住労働者に対する弾圧を求める国際アピール。

Korea, Nov. 27- In a dramatic move, immigration authorities arrested the entire leadership of the Migrant Trade Union (MTU). A union of undocumented migrant workers, MTU recently had held a mass memorial service for migrants that had died in Korea, and won a precedent-setting case at the Seoul High court which had ruled that the government must accept the legal registration of MTU. Unionists say that the recent arrests appear a tactic of authorities to circumvent the high court ruling and is part of a targeted crackdown aimed at repressing their movement for labour and human rights.

既に報道されているとおり、いわゆる「ネットカフェ難民」について、厚生労働省による調査結果が公表された。 これに関して、大阪で調査に協力した釜ヶ崎支援機構は、東京とは様相の異なる大阪での実態を伝えようと、2007年8月31日に報道発表する準備をしていたが、なんらかの事情により中止されたという。続けて読む〜

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare recently announced the results of a survey on 'net cafe refugees', people who stay all night in net cafes because they have no place to sleep. This was widely reported in the mainstream media. But Kamagasaki Shien-Kikou , a non-govermental homeless support organization based in Osaka and who partly helped the survey, points to many differences between the Tokyo oriented statistics and the real situation in Osaka. Kamagasaki Shien-Kikou prepaired a press briefing but cancelled for some reason. Sources tell that someone of The Ministry in charge directly called and strongly requested the cancellation… So here is the announcement they were planning to make… in English
