The annual meeting of Asian Development Bank will be held on May 5-7 in Kyoto Japan.
We Japanese NGOs will hold a counter-forum called Kyoto People's Forum.
I'm afraid that the scale of the Forum, possibly with some 300 attendance, may be small and tiny to militant activists outside Japan, but after much discussion among some NGOs intereted in events during ADB meeting, finally we could get to the Forum. Topics to be discussed at the workshops covers WTO/FTA, development, tsunami, debt, privatization, peace, war, women, climate change, agriculture, waste issues, bio fuels, poverty, currency transaction tax(tobin tax) or the like. I think issues we as alterglobalization movements should address line up there.
Our slogan is "Derail the ADB!"

Next year the G8 summit will be held in Japan.
I hope Kyoto People's Forum will turn into a big step toward G8 Alternative in Japan.
